Delicacy arises from the encounter between simplicity and precision. A jar full of colorful candies becomes the subject of an essential composition, where light enhances the transparency of the glass and the variety of colors. A daily image observed with a renewed gaze, capable of turning the ordinary into something precious.
Sandra Chinelate, Italian-Brazilian, works on the physical and existential inquiry conducted with the tools of figurative painting. A graduate in literature, and from a young age a self-taught artist, she moved to Italy and, influenced by her multifaceted sociolinguistic perspective, conducts her painting research with the aim of promoting a meeting between different social subjects, where different ages, skin colors, passions, and human perplexities are contemplated from a strong artist’s desire to exalt their facets, safeguarding her characters from any pre-judgment. She devotes herself with equal fervor to the search for detail, light, and perspective in her beloved hyperrealism technique, in which she has specialized since her earliest artistic experiments. Since 2005 she has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows. She works with oil and mixed media on canvas and on panel.
For the catalog of one of her most important solo exhibitions, the Roman art critic Lea Mattarella wrote a review, and at the end of the review she wrote: "and if there is pain, if there is effort, Chinelate makes the words of Rumi, the medieval Sufi poet, her own, who believed that 'the wound is the point from which light can penetrate into you'".
This is the law Sandra Chinelate applies to the human soul she depicts just as to the objects, all in equal balance in importance and order.
