VITYRA - Dudley

Dudley
Oil and acrylic on canvas
100 cm x 140 cm (39 inches x 55 inches)

Dudley holds his pose with a confidence his expression doesn’t quite explain. One hand planted on his hip, an enormous striped hat and a small, crooked smile give him a wonderfully particular presence. His mismatched eyes seem caught between curiosity and quiet amusement.

Painted in a contemporary neo-naïve style, the work pairs exaggerated geometry with spare, expressive details. An ivory silhouette stands against black and periwinkle blue, balanced by burgundy and golden ochre. Pale stripes link the hat and trousers, while wandering black contours and subtle brush marks keep the surface lively.

Part of an ongoing series of individual characters, Dudley explores how a few simple marks can suggest a whole personality. His angular stance and gently absurd proportions bring humour to a portrait that feels unexpectedly familiar.
