Dark Icons Series
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images
Multidisciplinary photographer artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Subsequently intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling presence, almost alive, questioning our relation to illusion and projection.
New Series – Contemporary Photomosaics
Since 2022, David Law has developed a new body of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is crafted from a multitude of microvisual fragments generated using current graphic tools, then selected, structured and meticulously recomposed by the artist. From afar, the image appears immediately legible, strong and assertive. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture composed of thousands of subtly interwoven elements. This work rests on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a balance sought between fragmentation and unity, and a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the fabrication of the contemporary image and how a multitude of fragments can give rise to a coherent and singular work.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with an integrated rear mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum panels, with UV- and humidity-resistant soft lamination, ensuring excellent durability, long-term resistance, color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Biography
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also a dedicated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops a writer-artist musician career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he is currently performing with the group FRENZY.
