Description from the seller
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of image in urban space. He first made his name with a series dedicated to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relation to illusion and projection.
New series – Fragment of Memory - Electronic Souls
Thousands of electronic components, processors, resistors, capacitors, printed circuits, come together to give birth to faces that have become universal. Each portrait evokes the way in which our collective memory is today shaped by technology. Fragments of machines compose a new humanity.
Edition & Manufacturing
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. The prints are made on aluminum with a built-in rear mounting. Printing on bright white vinyl, laminated between two aluminum plates, with UV and humidity-resistant flexible lamination, ensuring excellent durability, long-term resilience, color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Biography
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops a body of work as author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
