This oil-on-canvas work belongs to a modern Post-Impressionist style with Expressionist undertones, characterized by dynamic, vigorous brushstrokes that lend the scene remarkable visual texture and dynamism. The composition places two sailboats in the foreground, sailing across calm waters, where glimmers of light on the sea are rendered through small, juxtaposed touches of color that capture the sun’s shimmer on the water. The color palette creates an electrifying contrast between the deep, cool blues of the hulls and sea and the warm hues—orange, pink, and gold—that are reflected in the sails and suffuse the cloudy sky. Through this depiction, the artist seeks to convey a profound sense of freedom, serenity, and companionship amid the vastness of the ocean, inviting viewers to experience the contemplative calm and vibrant energy of sailing at dusk.
