Description from the seller
Rodrigo Alonso Cuesta (Burgos, 1982). Lives in Spain.
A graduate in Fine Arts from the University of saSalamanca and Audiovisual Communication from the University of Burgos, he has received an outstanding academic education, complemented by experiences abroad through Erasmus scholarships in Portugal and Belgium.
His artistic practice focuses primarily on oil painting, acrylic, watercolor, digital art, and paper, through which he creates paintings, drawings, and collages. His style is characterized by a rich, vivid, and expressive color palette, as well as a painterly compositional approach, with dynamic and unusual perspectives influenced by his passion for analog photography.
The themes he explores in his work are “landscapes, still lifes, and portraits…that’s all,” following David Hockney’s famous phrase. Although his work is rooted in figurative representation, he has recently begun experimenting with geometric abstraction, always on large-scale supports.
This artist has taken part in numerous exhibitions across Spain, with a particular focus on the north of the country. For more than 20 years, he has presented his work in various locations, including Burgos, Teruel, Vitoria, and Salamanca, where his work is especially well known. He has also won painting awards at both national and international levels, demonstrating his talent and recognition in the art world.
He recently won the award at the 3rd Motril Art Competition. 2024.
In addition to exhibiting his work, his pieces are held in numerous private collections around the world. This shows that his work is appreciated not only by the general public, but also by collectors and art lovers who value his unique style and technical skill.
In summary, this graduate in Fine Arts and Audiovisual Communication has built an outstanding artistic career focused on oil painting, acrylic, digital art, paper, and watercolor. His work is characterized by its rich color palette, painterly compositional style, and unusual perspectives. With numerous exhibitions and awards at national and international levels, his work is held in private collections around the world.
