Description
Up for auction is a charming and collectible Swiss antique pocket watch, dating to the early 20th century (circa 1925). Featuring a classic white enamel dial, elegant gold-plated hands, and a traditional cylinder escapement movement, this timepiece captures the timeless elegance of vintage horology.
Key Features:
Dial: Pristine white enamel dial featuring bold black Arabic numerals, a recessed outer minute track, and a sub-seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position. Accompanied by intricately styled decorative gold hands.
Case: Silver case stamped with 0.800 silver purity, alongside traditional Swiss hallmarks (including the classic grouse/ptarmigan hallmark used for 0.800 silver and the Star hallmark). The inner dust cover / back lid is numbered 525690.
Caseback Artistry: The outer caseback features a finely engraved engine-turned (guilloché) pattern centered around an elegant shield cartouche. It bears a personalized period monogram "C.A." and the commemorative dates "1875 - 1925", suggesting it was likely presented for a 50th birthday or a 50-year milestone anniversary.
Movement: Clean gold-gilt cylinder movement marked "Avance / Retard" on the regulator bridge, featuring a bridge layout typical of fine Swiss pocket watch craftsmanship of the era.
Winding: Crown-wound with a pin-set mechanism (pin pusher located near the 1 locations on the bezel rim).
Condition Report:
Dial: In very good preserved condition for it age
Case: Shows honest, age clean
