La 4867 la prima sedia industriale prodotta da un unico materiale plastico, frutto del genio di Joe Colombo. La sedia “Universale” o “4867” è un progetto del 1965 che vide la luce nel 1967. Il foro al centro del sedile connota esteticamente l’oggetto e assolve diverse funzioni: permette di spostarla agevolmente e, in caso di impiego all’esterno, il deflusso dell’acqua. Ai piedi delle gambe, i puntalini ammortizzatori in gomma sono un ulteriore accorgimento per un prodotto adatto all’esigenza di mobilità degli arredi, indispensabile negli spazi di lavoro o nei luoghi di ristorazione. 

La sedia “Universale” 4867 di Joe Colombo è esposta nelle collezioni museali del Vitra Design Museum e del MoMa di New York.
