Description from the seller
A magnificent and beautifully preserved vintage pocket watch from the historic Swiss manufacture Lonville (Langendorf). This exceptional timepiece is in excellent original condition, showcasing a striking contrast between its crisp white Roman dial, blued steel hands, and a high-grade manufactured Swiss movement. A standout lot for collectors seeking an authentic, unpolished, and pristine pocket watch with great historical appeal.
Dial and Hands:
Stunning original white enamel/porcelain dial in immaculate condition, completely free of hairline cracks, chips, or damage.
Bold, crisp black Roman numerals with an outer minute track and a sub-second register perfectly proportioned at 6 o'clock.
Beautiful, original blued steel Spade (Poire) hands that catch the light elegantly, along with a matching blued steel seconds hand.
Signed "Lonville" under the 12 o'clock position.
Case and Build:
Solid and robust open-face case made of base metal (nickel/steel composition), typical of the highly durable utility cases of the era.
The case back is beautifully preserved with a smooth, bright polish and light, honest surface micro-scratches from careful handling over the decades, retaining its original integrity.
Features a double-back design (hinged case back and inner dust cover) where both lids snap closed firmly and securely.
Contrasting golden-toned winding crown and sturdy bow ring in excellent shape.
Movement and Performance:
High-grade, in-house mechanical manual-wind movement, beautifully signed "Lonville" on the main bridge.
The mechanism is remarkably clean and visually striking, featuring traditional Swiss bridge layouts, decorative linear graining (Côtes de Genève finish), visible ruby jewels, and a gorgeously engraved balance cock.
The watch is in excellent working order, winding smoothly, setting easily, and keeping good, steady time with a strong, healthy beat.
Condition Report:
Overall: Excellent vintage condition. The watch has been meticulously cared for, remaining completely honest and unmolested. It is fully functional and ready to be integrated into a high-end collection or worn proudly on a vest chain
