Angelo Scardino’s unique PLA and resin sculpture 'Il volto del dubbio', measuring 40 × 27 × 15 cm, is hand-signed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, created in 2026.
Description from the seller
Contemporary sculpture in PLA and resin.
Dimensions: 40 × 27 × 15 cm.
Unique piece, handmade and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
A face that becomes thought, a word that becomes matter.
In «Il volto del dubbio», Angelo Scardino places in dialogue a classical-inspired face with a composition of words carved in relief. The portrait emerges from the encounter between features and writing: the letters cross the forehead and intertwine with the volumes of the beard, becoming part of the architecture of the face.
References to knowledge, research, wonder, and self-knowledge invite reading the work as a reflection on identity and thought. The gaze oscillates between the presence of the figure and the meaning of the words.
A purple band crosses the white of the sculpture, visually linking the figurative and typographic parts. The glossy finish enhances the reliefs, while the surface stratifications contribute to the contemporary character of the work.
Created in 2026 in PLA and resin, the sculpture is a unique piece, handmade and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
BIOGRAPHY OF THE ARTIST
Angelo Scardino was born in Grottaglie in 1986. After studies at the Liceo Artistico “Lisippo” in Manduria, he completed his education at the Academy of Fine Arts of Lecce, earning first- and second-level academic degrees with the highest marks and praise.
His sculptural research explores the relationship between figure, matter, and space, with particular attention to the dialogue between fullness and emptiness, explored in the thesis “The Sculpture of the Void.” Material experimentation accompanies the evolution of his language.
Among the exhibitions listed in his CV are “Primaverart” at Castello Carlo V in Lecce (2009), “The Earth Needs People” at the Royal Palace of Caserta (2010), “Seeing by Hand” at Palazzo Geremia in Trento (2010), the International Biennial “L’Ercole di Brindisi” (2012) and “Artefatto 2013 – Soft Power” in Trieste. In 2013 he was selected for the permanent exhibition of Mantua’s “Parco dell’Arte” competition, curated by Renato Barilli and Manuela Zanelli.
In 2026 the duo A_SCAR, consisting of Angelo Scardino and Cinzia Ascari, won the MG Trophy at the Arte Prize, in the sculpture section, with the work “Custodi invisibili.”
