Gawu box, also known as a Gao or Gau, is a small, portable shrine used in Tibetan Buddhism. It serves several spiritual and practical purposes:

2. **Contents**: It typically contains sacred items such as:
   - Small statues or images of deities.
   - Mantras or religious texts.
   - Relics or blessed items.

3. **Portability**: Designed to be carried by the wearer, often close to the heart. It symbolizes keeping one's spiritual practice and connection close.

4. **Material**: Gawu boxes are usually made of A Gawu box, also known as a Gao or Gau, is a small, portable shrine used in Tibetan Buddhism. It serves several spiritual and practical purposes:

1. **Om**: This sacred sound represents the universe and is often considered to embody the essence of ultimate reality. It signifies purity.

2. **Mani**: Means "jewel." It symbolizes the intention to become enlightened and the compassion that arises from that intention.

3. **Padme**: Means "lotus." The lotus flower represents wisdom and purity, as it grows in muddy waters yet blooms beautifully. 

4. **Hum**: This syllable signifies the unity of method and wisdom. It represents the goal of spiritual attainment.

### Significance

- The mantra is associated with Avalokiteshvara, the bodhisattva of compassion. Chanting it is believed to invoke and cultivate compassion within oneself and towards others.
- It is often used as a practice for meditation and mindfulness, helping individuals focus their thoughts and intentions.
- The mantra is thought to purify negative karma and develop positive qualities.

### Practice
