This ornate 18th-century mirror embodies the grandeur and decorative finesse of the French Baroque period. Its hand-carved wooden frame, lavishly gilded in gold leaf, is adorned with dramatic scrollwork, and a finely balanced crest.
The mirror was acquired during my recent antiquing travels through Northern France, where I seek out rare pieces in forgotten ateliers, estates, and tucked-away villages. Pérouges, with its cobbled alleys and preserved Renaissance façades, offered this exceptional find.

Origin: Pérouges, Northern France

Date: 18th century

Material: Carved wood, gesso, and gold leaf

Condition: Very good antique condition — natural wear to gilding, structurally sound
