The sculptor has paid meticulous attention to the textures: the soft, almost lifelike rendering of the flesh contrasts with the gnarled, twisted form of the tree, which is especially visible in the hands' area where bark and fingers intertwine visually and symbolically.

The close-up of the hand reveals the careful craftsmanship in the detailing of veins, fingernails, and the natural gesture of the fingers, emphasizing both agony and grace. The terracotta surface, with its warm earthy tones and subtle patina, enhances the organic feel of the piece.
