Description from the seller

Japanese triptych – 'The abalone fishers' – after Utamaro – Print, year 1960.

Magnificent Japanese triptych depicting the famous Ama divers, known as 'abalone divers,' based on the original work by Kitagawa Utamaro (1753–1806), the undisputed master of women's portraits (bijinga).

The scene depicts the Ama in full activity: swimming, diving, collecting shells, and preparing on the shore. The movement of the waves, the delicacy of the female silhouettes, and the three-panel composition are characteristic of Utamaro's graceful and sensual style.

This is a high-quality 1960s woodprint signed by 哥麿画 (Gamaru ga), used by some contemporary workshops to reissue classic works.

3 independent sheets – triptych measuring 38 x 25 cm and 40 x 26.5 cm overall.

Photos taken in natural light showing some small stains on the margin, reddish-brown spots.

Careful and secure shipment with tracking number.
