Bernard Buffet is one of the most well-known French artists of the 20th century and was a central figure of figurative expressionism. At a young age, he gained international recognition through his distinctive style, characterized by bold outlines, angular shapes, and a deliberately reduced color palette.
In addition to his painting, graphic art, particularly lithography, played a significant role in his work. It allowed Buffet to precisely realize his linear visual language and contributed substantially to the dissemination of his oeuvre. His works often reflect themes such as urban landscapes, still lifes, and existential moods, and they continue to hold a prominent place in the international art market.
