Violin by Franciszek F. Špidlen – Prague 1918.
For sale I offer a beautiful antique violin by Franciszek F. Špidlen, a luthier from Prague, made in 1918. The instrument comes with an expert opinion/certificate prepared by the violin workshop of Mr. Wiesław Sokołowski (Białystok, 2018), in which it was described and valued in detail (the luthier is a member of the Polish Association of Luthiers).
Description of the instrument:
Top plate: spruce, in good condition
Back plate: figured sycamore/maple, in good condition
Ribs: figured sycamore/maple, in good condition
Scroll: figured sycamore/maple, in good condition
Finish: oil varnish, dark-golden, in good condition
Markings: inside, a visible label reading “Franciscus F. Špidlen fecit Pragae Anno 1918”
The violin is fully functional and ready to play.
An instrument with both practical and collectible value.
Preserved in very good condition, with a beautiful, warm tone characteristic of the Czech school of luthiers.
