Hugo Schmölz (1897–1938) was a German photographer known primarily for his objective and precise architectural photographs. In the 1920s and 1930s, he documented the dawn of modernism—including the New Building and industrial architecture—mainly in the Cologne area.
With a clear vision, perfect lighting, and high technical precision, Schmölz created images that go far beyond mere documentation. He worked closely with architects and shaped the image of modern architecture in trade magazines and publications of his time.
