Marcel van Hulst

Brass Alidade surveying instrument with 2 folding sights and a pivoting parallel ruler. This alidade is made by A & A Ld  and marked with the military arrow and MKII.
They were mainly used to measure angles from objects by aligning the openings on both sides of the alidade for navigational purposes.
Some types of alidades were integrated in other scientific and navigational instruments, as for example theodolites.

Large instrument, the width is around 46 cm. and it weighs 1.1 kg.
