A set of three handcrafted Japanese chawan from Japan, dating 1900–2000, each with distinct glaze and inscriptions by Zuiun and possibly Nizan, ideal for tea ceremony practitioners and pottery enthusiasts.
Description from the seller
This listing offers a set of three Japanese tea bowls (chawan), each presenting a unique expression of traditional Japanese ceramic artistry. Each bowl is handcrafted, highlighting the natural beauty of glaze, form, and subtle detail.
The beige tea bowl, with a smooth cream glaze and an elegant gold rim, bears the impressed signature 瑞雲作 (Zuiun-saku), identifying the work of the ceramic artist Zuiun. This refined piece embodies serenity and sophistication.
The gray tea bowl features a natural matte glaze and a slightly textured surface. It is notable for having three kanji inscriptions on the side, adding character and possibly referencing poetic or symbolic elements. The base is unmarked.
The black bowl with decorative pattern is slightly smaller in height and exhibits a striking, glossy glaze with an abstract hand-painted motif. Based on stylistic comparison and form, it is possibly the work of Nizan (二山?), although the signature is not confirmed.
This set is ideal for collectors, tea ceremony practitioners, or admirers of fine Japanese pottery.
We strive to ensure that the photographs faithfully reproduce the colours of the products, however please note that due to lighting conditions, differences in display, shooting conditions, etc., the colours of the actual product may look different from those in the photograph.
