Camille Pissarro created nearly 77 lithographs and over 130 engravings, delicately exploring rural scenes, markets, and urban landscapes. His printed work reflects a constant search for light and atmosphere, even in black and white.
Pissarro, a central figure of Impressionism, became passionate about printmaking in the 1860s. His lithographs and etchings reflect his sensitive view of peasant life, bathers, and views of Rouen or the Val d’Oise. These are not mere reproductions: each print reveals a demanding work of drawing and composition, often produced in multiple states. The artist collaborates with the Society of Etchers and exhibits his prints alongside Impressionist engraver-painters.
