Francesc Carbonell i Massabé (born in Barcelona in 1928) is a Catalan painter closely linked to landscape painting, with a style that is closely impressionist. He studied at the prestigious La Llotja school and the Fine Arts of Barcelona. Throughout his career, he has portrayed rural, coastal scenes, and the Mediterranean light, with great sensitivity to light changes and natural details. His works have been exhibited and sold in various European cities such as Paris, Munich, Palma de Mallorca, Bilbao, among others.
Description of the work
The work depicts a serene landscape from the Olot area, titled 'L’ermita'. The scene shows a path leading to a small hermitage surrounded by trees and vegetation, with a luminous atmosphere and loose brushwork typical of the artist. The painting conveys a sense of calm and warmth, with a balanced palette and a very pleasing composition. It bears the artist's signature on both the front and the back, where the title and the depicted location are also noted.
