Perhaps the most unexpected thing about Bob Henriques was that he was never actually a photographer. While he was famous and successful as a photojournalist in the 1950s and 1960s, documenting the civil rights movement, the Cuban Revolution, photographing both movie stars and politicians, and joining Magnum in 1954, he almost entirely abandoned photography in the mid-1960s and spent most of his life running a candle-making business in Jamaica. One can only imagine how extensive his archive would have been if he had continued taking photographs.
