Kawase Hasui (1883-1957) was a Japanese painter. One of the most prominent printmakers of the New Printmaking Movement, Hasui Kawase is perhaps the most famous Japanese landscape painter of the 20th century.

As a modern printmaker, Hasui Kawase gave first priority to the atmosphere of a place. In particular, their obsessive interest in depicting light characterizes the dreamlike atmosphere of their prints. Artists like Kawase Tomosui expressed a romantic yearning for nature, his rural roots, and the warmth of wooden architecture that was being lost in the Tokyo metropolis.

Most of his prints were destroyed in a fire the year before his death. He was recognized as a Living National Treasure.

Note: Import duties, taxes and customs charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost.
These charges are the buyer’s responsibility.
