Sheaffer Flat Top Lady/Petite fountain pen, made in the United States, in amber‑dorado marbled celluloid with gold plating, 113 mm long and 11 mm in diameter, in good used condition and working order.
Description from the seller
A0000001325
This Sheaffer Flat Top fountain pen in Lady/Petite size, crafted from attractive marbled amber-golden celluloid, is in notably good condition for a piece made in the late 1920s. Its material exhibits a deep, uniform shine, with a very vivid pearlescent pattern, evidence of a nib carefully preserved over nearly a century.
The flat cap, characteristic of the Flat Top models, retains its structural integrity without cracks or deformations. The original gold clip, engraved with the Sheaffer’s brand, maintains its shape, firmness, and much of its plating, showing only superficial wear typical of age but without significant loss of finish. The cap rings are well seated and retain a clean, uniform gold finish.
The body features the same marbled celluloid in excellent condition, with minimal micro-scratches compatible with normal use and no signs of impacts, cracks, or significant discoloration. The flat base of the heel, with its original gold disc, is in very good condition, with no damage or separations, a detail that is often lost in less well-preserved specimens.
The Sheaffer Lifetime 14K gold nib appears shiny, clearly engraved, and perfectly aligned, with no deformations or abnormal wear on the tines. It represents not only a high-quality writing point but also a highly valuable historical component for collectors.
The ebonite feeder is complete and well-preserved, with no fractures or deformations, maintaining the original ink flow functionality. The loading system corresponding to the model — typical of late 1920s Flat Tops — remains intact, visually complete, and consistent with its period design.
Overall, this Sheaffer Flat Top Lady/Petite stands out as an exceptionally well-preserved, fully original piece with a warm and elegant aesthetic characteristic of amber celluloid. Its combination of a compact size, rare material, Lifetime nib, and overall condition makes it a highly desirable item for both Sheaffer collectors and vintage fountain pen enthusiasts in general.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
