Old violin by Julius Heinrich Zimmermann - J.H.Z, built circa 1880. The Julius Heinrich Zimmermann, hailing from Sternberg, established his successful workshops at the end of the 19th century; after Leipzig, he was also known in Petersburg, Moscow and Riga as a court supplier to the Russian Tsar’s household.

Based on the label inside the violin, this violin can be dated to the end of the 19th century, as he used a different mark at the beginning of the 1900s.

The violin bow is also finely crafted, with real horsehair and mother-of-pearl inlays.

The violin is approximately 50 cm long and 19 cm wide.
The bow is 63 cm long.
