Biographical note of the painter Nguyen Robert, born in 1958.
Born in 1958 in Bên Tre, an authentic village nestled in the heart of the Mekong Delta, Nguyen Robert is a Franco-Vietnamese artist whose work is distinguished by a singular fusion of Asian traditions and Western artistic influences. From a young age, he was fascinated by the rural architecture of his environment, the lines of traditional houses, the volumes of floating markets, and the shadows cast by water palms — all elements that would become the foundation of his visual language.
Having been rooted in his native region since forever, Nguyen Robert has developed, over the decades, a deeply contemporary, modern, and decidedly architectural style. His paintings explore structures, lines, urban rhythms, and geometric abstraction, while maintaining a poetic sensitivity unique to Vietnamese culture.
His dual heritage, Franco-Vietnamese, enriches his approach: he borrows from the West the rigor of modern compositions and the boldness of contrasts, while his Vietnamese soul infuses softness, spirituality, and fluidity into his works. The result is an artistic universe where modernity meets the timeless, where geometry dialogues with light, creating paintings of great visual power.
Known for his ability to transform everyday life into abstract landscapes, Nguyen Robert is now considered one of the distinctive voices of contemporary delta painting. He continues his work in his studio in Bên Tre, surrounded by the landscapes that have shaped his identity, and keeps exhibiting in several galleries across Asia and Europe, captivating collectors and art enthusiasts seeking deeply modern, structured, and vibrant works.
