Description from the seller
Love and Psyche tattooed – a reinterpretation by Slasky
Inspired by the work Amore e Psiche by François Gérard, 1798.
In my interpretation, the two mythological protagonists abandon neoclassical purity to embody an aesthetic marked by experience and contemporary identity. Psyche, seated in her iconic pose, retains the delicate grace of the original gesture, but her body is covered with tattoos: arabesques, symbols, and narrative signs that rewrite her skin as a living surface. Cupid, leaning over her, touches her forehead with a kiss: even his wings and body are decorated with tattoos, modern traces that dialogue with the ancient.
The scene does not lose its poetic intensity but gains new resonances. The tattoo becomes a universal language, a sign of personal and collective stories carved into flesh as much as emotions and memories. The neoclassical ideal merges with the visual culture of the present: Love and Psyche transform into eternal figures, but finally anchored to an imagery that speaks to our time.
