Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
This Conklin lever filler fountain pen from the mid‑twentieth century is gold plated, featuring engraved linear patterns and the original Conklin clip for authentic American craftsmanship.
Description from the seller
This extraordinary Conklin fountain pen, a classic piece from the golden age of American manufacturing, is presented in very well-preserved condition given its decades of age. Its body and cap, richly gold-plated, retain an attractive shine and a surface engraved with linear patterns that preserve much of their original definition. The integrated clip, with the distinctive engraved 'Conklin,' remains firm and functional, reflecting the brand's characteristic build quality.
The side engravings with the legend 'Conklin – Toledo, Ohio, U.S.A.' remain legible and well-defined, a sign of authenticity and the historical origin of the piece. The lever filler loading system, emblem of Conklin's early engineering, is visually intact; the lever retains mobility, with no excessive play or evident deformations.
The nib, marked with the inscription “VACUUM FILL – 14KT – MADE IN U.S.A.”, appears to be in very good aesthetic condition, maintaining its original alignment and tip. On the reverse side, signs of dried ink and darkening in the feeder are visible, typical of normal use and age, but with no visible structural damages. The body’s threading shows superficial wear of the plating, although it remains firmly attached and has no fractures.
The upper end of the cap retains its hanging ring, although it shows notable wear of the plating due to its age; this feature adds character and authenticity, typical of pieces used daily in its time.
In summary, this Conklin pen is an authentic, decorative, and fully collectible piece that retains the aesthetic and technical essence of classic American writing. Its lever system, original engravings, and gold plating make it particularly attractive for both advanced collectors and those seeking a historical piece with presence and personality.
It would be sent in a courtesy box for its proper preservation.
