Swan S.F. 230 Eternal fountain pen in celluloid with gold plating, manufactured in the United Kingdom by Mabie Todd & Co. Ltd. in the 1930s, featuring a 14K gold nib and a lever-fill system, in excellent vintage condition.
Description from the seller
Exceptional Swan S.F. 230 Eternal fountain pen, manufactured by Mabie Todd & Co. Ltd. in England during the 1930s.
A classic piece from the golden age of British writing, recognized for its craftsmanship and its distinctive marbled ebonite design.
The body and cap, made of reddish-brown ebonite with black veins ('red ripple'), retain a deep and uniform shine, showing only slight surface marks typical of use and age, with no cracks or repairs.
The engravings 'SWAN S.F. 230 – MABIE TODD & Co. Ltd. – MADE IN ENGLAND' remain sharp and perfectly legible, demonstrating their authenticity and excellent preservation.
The gold-plated adornments — clip, central ring, and loading lever — are in very good condition, with a uniform patina that enhances their historical character.
The end of the cap retains the original amber translucent window, in impeccable condition and without opacities.
The Swan Eternal No. 4 nib in solid 14-karat gold (14K) is presented clean, aligned, and in perfect working order. It offers a fine, semi-flexible (M) line with great smoothness and responsiveness, featuring the characteristic elasticity of British nibs from that era.
The lever filler system has been verified and is functioning correctly, with good compression and stable flow.
Overall, this Swan Eternal S.F. 230 is in excellent vintage condition, 100% original and fully functional, ready for use or inclusion in a collection of historical writing pieces.
A piece that faithfully represents the elegance and mechanical precision of British manufacturing in the 1930s.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
