A Mabie Todd Swan S.F.130 self filling pen from England, with a brown ebonite body and gold plated details, a 14 carat gold nib, and solid vintage condition.
Description from the seller
This piece is a Swan Self-Filling Pen model S.F.130, manufactured by Mabie Todd & Co. Ltd., England, and is in a remarkable state of preservation for its age. It features a solid body in dark brown ebony, with a homogeneous patina characteristic of this material, confirming its authenticity and adding a very appreciated vintage appeal for collectors.
The engravings on the body — 'SWAN SELF-FILLING PEN', 'MABIE TODD & CO. LTD.', and the model reference 'S.F.130' — remain clear and perfectly legible, indicating minimal wear over the years. Both the metal rings and the gold-plated details retain a uniform shine, showing only slight signs of use consistent with their age.
The pen retains its original charge bar, which is firmly seated and shows a slight wear level, without affecting its functionality. The clip, with the brand's characteristic swan emblem, is aligned and functional, with no visible deformations.
The 14-karat gold nib, marked with the Swan logo, is presented in excellent condition. It shows no deformations, bites, or signs of repair, and retains its characteristic heart-shaped breathing hole, typical of models from that era.
The flat bottom features the typical natural shading of aged ebony, with no cracks or dents. The threads of the cap closure are clean, maintaining a firm and secure fit.
Overall, this pen is kept in very good condition for a collection, with minimal signs of use and all its original elements. It is a solid, attractive specimen and a perfect representation of Mabie Todd's artisanal quality during its golden age.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
