Description from the seller
Chris van der Windt (1877-1952)
Work dimensions: 16 x 20 cm
Provenance:
- Private collection, Netherlands
The work of the Leiden painter Chris van der Windt is closely related to that of the Hague School. He often worked 'en plein air' and believed that the watercolor technique was also well-suited to capturing the typical atmosphere of the Dutch water landscape. His favorite subject was the 'intimate farmyard': a 'close-up' of a corner of a farmyard with a single figure, drying laundry, or a shining cap as a focal point. He also painted animals and still lifes in brilliant colors. Much of his work was sold in England and Canada.
Viewing is, of course, possible. Additionally, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. Furthermore, we collaborate with restorers from the professional organization: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you wish to make use of this service, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
