Superb luxury edition of the renowned work by Albert Chatelle, La Colonne de la Grande Armée 1804–1959, published on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Napoléon Column in Boulogne-sur-Mer.
Reserved print run for subscribers, printed by L. Danel (Lille) in 1959.
Grand luxury edition, including:
The imperial seal of the 'Hundred Days' in red wax, used for the first time for this work (ordered by Napoleon I in 1815).
An original signed watercolor depicting the Column of the Grande Armée.
16 plates outside the text, including several in color and reproductions of works by J.-F. Hue and A. Hennequin.
Preface by General Catroux, Grand Chancellor of the Legion of Honour.
Printed text on high-quality vellum paper, in a cream-colored cloth slipcase with a gold plaque.
A very beautiful complete specimen, rare in this condition.
