Description from the seller
2 bott. 1952 Marco De Bartoli Riserva Storica collectible 1952 Numbered 31-36/135 Original signature on the bottle, Sealing wax stopper.
A unique bottle, a numbered Riserva from 1952 in perfect condition. 500ml bottle no. 31-36 of only 135 bottled in the year. One of the oldest historical reserves in the collection, part of a careful search and recovery of ancient Marsala wine bases that the founder of the agricultural company Marco De Bartoli first "restored" and then preserved for decades in his underground cellars.
Variety: Grillo 100%. Dry fortified wine.
Alcohol 15.5% Bottle 500 ml.
Excellent condition.
# The Historical Reserves of the Company
Reserves that had been lying for years like hidden treasures, lovingly guarded and that finally see the light of day also in sales. About thirty years ago, when I started to put the family business in order, I discovered that I owned at least forty barrels of about 110 liters.
The cellar, located in a particular area with unique characteristics, had different storage environments. Particularly important was the Marsala company, in a hilly area with southern exposure. With great difficulty I managed to decipher the vintages: for some of the historic bottles I was able to establish that the mother of these wines dates back to the last century (from pre-phylloxera vineyards), rejuvenated every year after the ritual sampling of a few bottles consumed on special occasions.
The last filling that I was able to better identify concerns the sugar content of the Grillo grapes, which however were lower than the 29° Babo of sugars.
This year I put on sale a very limited series of bottles of these Reserves, which I took great care of in the "restoration".
For me all this is made of love and prestige, also because my company, which has belonged to the family for more than two centuries, has always produced historic and long-aging wines.
