Delphi, a limited edition collotype by Oskar Kokoschka, 1961, not signed, in excellent condition, depicting a cityscape, from Germany, 76 × 101 cm.
Description from the seller
Artist, after: Oskar Kokoschka (1886-1980), austrian expressionist painter
Title: Delphi
Edited by Bruckmann, 1961
Reproduction as a beautiful COLLOTYPE
Collotype was a type of lithographic printing that is around 125 years old and has now been discontinued. It was used to achieve an almost photographic reproduction with up to fourteen color printing passes (with special lightfast colors that lasted for decades), which is by far the noblest printing technique and cannot be achieved lightfast even today with the most modern production methods.
Due to the time-consuming, manual and therefore cost-intensive work process, the lack of artist or museum commissions and the lack of future prospects for specialized skilled workers, this most faithful of all known printing processes has been considered “extinct” worldwide for two decades and can no longer be produced.
This is why these last classic facsimile collotype prints are something special and irretrievable for every lover of historical printing art.
Motif format: H 63 cm, W 90 cm
Sheet size: H 76 cm x W 101 cm
Condition: Very good. top right edge of the sheet is slightly chipped, not notable when framed.
The print will be sent securely packaged.
It will be sent as a registered and insured parcel.
