Luigi Nono, born on December 8, 1850, in Fusina, had a natural inclination for the art of drawing from a young age. On his father's advice, he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice in 1864. After completing his studies, he moved to Sacile, where his family resided. It was here that, in 1872, he painted one of the most famous masterpieces of 19th-century Italian painting, 'The Sources of Gorgazzo,' demonstrating that he had developed a macchiaioli style of painting thanks to the influence of artists like Federico Zandomeneghi and Guglielmo Ciardi. His career led him to participate in numerous exhibitions, including the Paris Universal Exposition, the National Exhibition of Rome, Berlin, and the first Venetian Biennale, where he achieved great success. After teaching briefly in Bologna at the local academy, he returned to Venice, where he spent his final years before passing away on December 17, 1918.
