Description from the seller
Nicolaas Pieneman (1880–1938) was a Dutch artist originating from Amsterdam. He received his training at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam and was a student of Martin Monnickendam. He specialized in cityscapes and landscapes, often inspired by Amsterdam and its surroundings. As a member of the avant-garde painters' association De Onafhankelijken, his work was exhibited in the 1920s at the Stedelijk Museum, alongside those of contemporaries such as Piet Mondriaan, Charley Toorop, Jan Wiegers, and Johan Dijkstra.
A couple of damages and the board is somewhat bent. Consult the photos for a complete picture of the condition.
Viewing is naturally possible. Additionally, we have our own in-house frame workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. Furthermore, we make use of restorers from the industry organization: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you wish to make use of this, we would of course be happy to hear about it.
