Description from the seller

Beautiful atlas alone in two parts, without the two volumes of text of this work stemming from Napoleon III's passion for Julius Caesar, and from the work of Mr. Stoffel, who authored a large part of it.

Complete set of his 4 color plates and 28 engravings on heavy paper, all engraved at Erhard Schièble.

He transcribes a major historiographical collection of Napoleon III, which aimed both to celebrate the figure of Julius Caesar and to legitimize his own power through an implicit analogy between the Roman Empire and the Second Empire.

Napoleon III - History of Julius Caesar - 1865 - Atlas of Volume 1 and Atlas of Volume 2 - Henri Plon
VII+415 -

Good condition of the binding, book in its full original soft cover, under a gray cardboard slipcase, slight signs of wear, slightly rubbed boards and corners, smooth spine, muted gray.

Very good interior condition, some foxing, works enriched with numerous colored and black-and-white maps.

Delivery service guaranteed within a few days.
