Description from the seller
Mt. Fuji and Forest Scenery with Original Box (Tomobako) / Japanese art kakejiku kakemono wall hanging scroll
This traditional Japanese hanging scroll features a serene landscape of Mount Fuji rising beyond a forested foreground. Snow-capped and softly rendered, Fuji stands beneath a pale sky, while stylized trees with blue-green foliage anchor the composition in quiet harmony. In Japanese art and culture, Mount Fuji is more than a geographic landmark — it is a symbol of eternity, purity, and spiritual aspiration. Its symmetrical form and enduring presence have inspired generations of artists and poets. The surrounding forest evokes themes of seasonal change, solitude, and the quiet rhythms of nature, while the distant peak suggests transcendence and inner clarity. Although the scroll bears a seal mark, the artist remains unidentified. The work is preserved in its original tomobako (wooden storage box), which adds cultural and historical value to the piece. A refined and contemplative composition, ideal for collectors of Japanese landscape painting and traditional aesthetics.
