GonçaloMAR BIO
The appeal was constant; it was only a matter of time. The interpretation that MAR makes of the environment that involves him as an artist must be painted.
At the age of 12, he was already drawing figures of his imagination with a bit of chalk on the asphalt. Over the years, his professional choice was natural. During his academy course—graduating in Fashion Design at F.A.L.—he applied for a position at a Portuguese animation studio—'Magic Toons'—as a drawer. It was around this time, in 98, that he had his first experience with graffiti.
Since then, driven by his artistic convictions, Mar has been seeking constant evolution both together and within the global graffiti movement, which is continuously evolving. He also works with different national fashion brands. Known for his characters, he stands out for the way he constructs his characters and atmospheres, giving them lines and shapes that make them unique.

Mar is one of the first professional graffiti artists in Portugal, after quitting his job as a fashion designer for the Portuguese brand Station.

- Since 2002, Mar has participated in 42 exhibitions at art galleries and museums and has produced 37 graffiti street art group exhibitions.

During his artistic journey, he became friends and painted on walls alongside giants of graffiti and world street art such as Sainer, C215, Robert Proch, Os Gemeos, Risk, Bellin, Magrela, Case, and Tasso from the Maclaim Crew, among many others famous in the international graffiti scene.
From the Portuguese scene, Mar painted with Ram, Nomen, Utopia, Vhils, Odeith, Bray, Klit, Mais Menos, and many more. Being part of the two most active and futuristic crews in Portugal: Tunders Crew and Arm Collective, this one with Ram only.

Since 2015 until today, the artist has created installations, murals, and canvases that are acquired by galleries and collectors worldwide, and has produced countless graffiti commissions for all kinds of brands and companies.

Recently honored by the local authority that witnessed his development as an artist, with the Medal of Cultural Merit.
Nowadays, his artistic goal relates to exploring new urban spaces that graffiti can still offer.
