Beatrice Riva presents 'Illusion', an original mixed‑media diptych (36 × 36 cm) in a contemporary style, dated 2010–2020, in excellent condition, sold directly from the artist with certificate of authenticity included.
Description from the seller
"Illusion" is a powerful diptych that explores the complex relationship between identity, emotion, and perception. Through two complementary portraits, the artist creates a visceral dialogue between male and female figures, each shrouded in a veil of symbolism and expressive color.
The first panel features a male face against an ethereal aquamarine background. A rose, symbolizing beauty and vulnerability, appears to merge with the face, while vibrant magenta brushstrokes tear across the canvas, suggesting emotional wounds or an explosion of feelings. The expression is contemplative, almost melancholic, inviting the viewer to reflect on the fragility of the human soul.
The second panel, with a similar background palette, depicts a female face whose expression is more direct but no less enigmatic. Here, the color blue dominates, covering part of the face with bold painterly gestures that resemble abstract brushstrokes, perhaps evoking the depth of thought or an attempt to hide/reveal the true essence. A rose gently rests on the chest, echoing the flower in the first portrait, reinforcing the thematic connection between the two figures.
Both paintings are characterized by a technical mastery that combines the realism of the faces with the dynamic abstraction of color patches, creating a fascinating contrast that amplifies the sense of illusion and the ephemeral nature of the reality we perceive. The diptych is a work that stimulates reflection on duality, on the mask we wear, and on the beauty that emerges even from inner chaos.
These works are ideal for collectors who appreciate contemporary figurative art with a strong emotional and conceptual component.
Provenance: directly from the artist's studio. Certificate of Authenticity: included.
