Description from the seller
Snakes
The Parker Snake is legendary among fountain pen collectors; a black ebonite eyedropper pen with a sterling silver overlay, featuring two filigree snakes with emeralds in their eyes. One of them coils around the barrel, with smooth space for engraving the owner's name, and the other slides along the cap. These pens measure between 130/140 mm in length and are fitted with a gold Lucky Curve No. 3 nib.
There does not seem to be a single pattern in the snake's coil design, so we can see it crawling upwards or downwards, both on the barrel and on the cap.
There are no two identical serpents; each filigree is the result of a unique artistic work. Although inspired by a basic design template, each one is hand-chiseled and repoussé individually by a jewelry artisan.
In 1997, as a limited edition of 5,000 pieces, Parker reissued that iconic pen in silver with the shapes of its original model. This pen is filled using a converter system and features a Parker 18-karat gold nib.
This particular pen features two intertwined carved snakes, with the snakes' eyes decorated with emeralds, giving it an extra touch of luxury and elegance.
The pen is sent with insurance and represents 3% of the auction amount.
