Christo (1935-2020) - Wrapped Mur des Réformateurs, Geneva, limitiert und signiert

The "Wrapped Mur de Réformateurs, Project for Geneva" was part of a plan by Christo to cover three Geneva landmarks: the Reformers' Wall with reliefs of Farel, Calvon, de Béze, and Knox, the fountain in Lake Geneva, and the equestrian statue of General Dufour. However, none of these projects could be realized. Christo spent the winter of 1957/58 in Geneva before moving to Paris.

In 1998, Christo and Jeanne-Claude were able to realize a project in Switzerland: the "Wrapped Trees" at the Fondation Beyeler.

Offered is a rare color lithograph of the Wrapped Mur of the Reformers with a beautiful collage of fabric and thread. It is a limited edition, and this is number 70 of 100. Signed in pencil by Christo. Executed on Rives handmade paper and mounted on cardboard. Additionally, it includes a collage of a photograph and a city map. The image size is 71.5 x 56 cm, with a custom frame made of plexiglass. The frame is approximately 5 cm deep to further emphasize the fabric collage. The lithograph and the collage by Christo demonstrate his impressive ability to transform a well-known public sculpture into an extraordinary work of art.

The lithograph is in very good condition. Only at the top edge is a slight wave, which is not visible from the front. The representative frame made of plexiglass is new and lined on the back with a wooden panel. As a result, the artwork is comparatively heavy.
