About the artist :

Robert Doisneau (1912 - 1994) is undoubtedly the 20th century photographer whose shots have left the most lasting impression, notably his black-and-white photographs of Paris and its suburbs after the war. He is at ease in the street, which he transforms into a sensitive surface, a worthy heir of Eugène Atget (1857-1927), whose images he admires for their 'rusticity that defies time.'
