David Bowie, with an eye patch, performs Rebel Rebel in the Toppop TV Studios, Hilversum, Netherlands, on February 13, 1974. Signed and blind stamped. Size 40 x 60 cm, digital print on 270 g/m2 Hahnemuhle White Velvet professional art paper. The photo was displayed at the David Bowie is exhibition, Groninger Museum, Groningen, Netherlands, after his death in 2016. The newly released book David Bowie Changes in the Seventies is included with the photo.

In the 1970s, Gijsbert Hanekroot worked as a freelance photographer based in Amsterdam, where he had a studio (Berenstraat 18). His main assignment was the bi-weekly music magazine Muziekkrant Oor (Ear), but he also worked for daily newspapers and magazines. He covered concerts, interviews, press receptions, and studio photoshoots. Those were the golden years of rock music, when the big names recorded their first and second albums, working hard to make their breakthrough.

Recently, Gijsberts' photos were exhibited in locations including Paris, London, Moscow, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, and Amsterdam. He also published several books.
