Description from the seller
Nico - The Blue Angel. This is a test pressing of first UK pressing. Test Pressings of items related to The Velvet Underground & Nico iconic LP incredibly rare appear on the market and are highly sought after by collectors. Possibly a once in a lifetime opportunity to obtain this treasure.
This compilation brings together the many faces of Nico — from her time with The Velvet Underground to her later, darker solo years. It features several songs from the iconic The Velvet Underground & Nico album, including the haunting “Femme Fatale,” the hypnotic “All Tomorrow’s Parties,” and the gritty “I’m Waiting for the Man.” These early tracks capture the cool detachment and beauty that made her an unforgettable part of that groundbreaking record.
Alongside those are some of her most memorable solo pieces. “Chelsea Girls” and “I’ll Keep It With Mine” recall her 1967 debut — lush, poetic, and tinged with melancholy — while “Janitor of Lunacy” shows the stripped, spiritual intensity of her Desertshore period.
The compilation also highlights Nico’s striking interpretations of classic songs by other artists. Her version of David Bowie’s “Heroes” turns an anthem of defiance into a solemn elegy, and her rendition of The Doors’ “The End” transforms Morrison’s psychedelic drama into something stark and apocalyptic. Later works like “One More Chance” and “Sixty/Forty,” from her final album Camera Obscura, bring a cold, mechanical edge that fits perfectly with her voice’s timeless, mournful power.
The Blue Angel plays like a journey through Nico’s entire artistic evolution — from Factory-era muse to avant-garde icon — capturing her voice as it moved from pop enigma to something almost mythic.
LP condition: VG+. Visually looks beautiful, but plays with some surface noise/crackling in some parts, probably it is just how this pressing is, but I want to stay conservative in grading.
Cover condition: as on photos. The generic white cover is the correct one that came with the LP. But as a bonus I'm adding a standard cover of the same album, but of a Greek pressing. It can be used for display purposes!
