The Laphroaig Cairdeas is a special bottling released annually for the Feis Ile Festival. The 2016 release of the single malt whisky was initially aged in bourbon casks. It was then finished in Maderia casks from Portugal. The distillery bottled the Scotch at cask strength at a robust 51.6% ABV. It was also non-chill-filtered.

Nosing: The whisky opens with notes of ripe oranges and sweet licorice. This is followed by peat smoke and iodine, typical of Islay. Maritime impressions round out the aroma.
Tasting: The Laphroaig Cairdeas Madeira Cask leaves a peaty and earthy impression on the tongue. It tastes slightly salty and brings fruitiness from oranges and lemons. Nuts and peat smoke lead the finish.
Finish: The Scotch has a long finish, with notes of lingering sweetness and smokiness.
