Description from the seller
Go Mishima(三島剛) is a contemporary Japanese artist known for his unique style and themes. He was a charismatic figure who led the gay erotic art of the Showa era, and continued to paint unique images of Japanese boys at the dawn of Japanese gay culture. His works are characterized by a fusion of traditional Japanese aesthetics and modern sensibilities.
His art book "Youth(若者)" is a collection of his representative works, and it has a theme of the strength and dynamism of young people.
It depicts a man standing completely naked.
His depictions go beyond mere form, telling the stories of marginalized people and resonating deeply with the origins of Japanese gay culture. His works express the loneliness and melancholy of individuals and minorities. His art continues to fascinate and inspire people, as seen in the recent exhibition "POETRY READING" by Kari DeWitt x Go Mishima held in Tokyo.
This lithograph is a vintage piece, so it has aged over time, but it still has enough appearance to be appreciated.
