Willem G.F. Jansen (1871-1949)

The Dutch artist Willem George Frederik Jansen was born in Harlingen on December 25, 1871, and died in Blaricum on June 21, 1949. Besides painting, Willem was a draftsman, etcher, and lithographer. He studied at the School for Applied Arts in Haarlem and was a pupil of Jan de Boer, Rein Stuurman, Gerrit van Velsen, and Willem Wijnands. Willem was a member of Arti Amsterdam and the Haagsche Kunstkring. He painted in the style of the Hague School, inspired by Jacob Maris.
