Gerard Johan Staller
1880 – Amsterdam – 1956
Staller studied at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam until 1905. He began his career in the ceramic industry and later became an independent artist. He mainly painted cityscapes of Amsterdam and scenes of the people in the Jewish neighborhood around Waterlooplein and the Jordaan. Staller was very skilled in this and was therefore called the painter of the Amsterdam Jewish people's life. He received an award from the Willem van Collemfonds for his body of work.
Gerard Staller was a member of ‘Arti et Amicitiae’ and ‘St. Lucas’ in Amsterdam.
