Description from the seller
Rudolf Scheurer – Original metal relief with integrated artist's book – 1970s – wall object / collector's item
Description
A rare and valuable art object by the German sculptor Rudolf Scheurer (1931–2020).
Patinated metal relief from the 1970s, mounted on a contrasting textile background – ready for wall mounting or also displayable as a freestanding object.
The round relief depicts Scheurer's typical organically abstract figurative world — with archaic-looking symbolism and a powerful, modern language of form. The circular structure with a central focus resembles a mythical 'wheel of life or creation' and gives the work a strong sculptural presence.
Special feature
The object features an integrated artist's book/catalog that provides insight into Scheurer's work and methodology. This combination of art and documentation makes the piece particularly sought after by collectors.
Artists
Rudolf Scheurer – a notable German sculptor of post-war modernism, with over 300 exhibitions and numerous works in public spaces. Organic sculptures, reliefs, and graphic works characterize his versatile oeuvre, which is currently managed, among others, by the Rudolf Scheurer Foundation.
state
Well maintained, with a fine original patina and only minimal age-related signs of wear on the background. See photos for details.
Material: metal casting, patinated – textile covering / wooden support
Wall-mounted – immediately decorative and ready to use
Why this piece?
Original work by a sought-after post-war artist.
Rare combination relief + artist's book
Perfect as mid-century art for modern architecture and interiors.
A bold, eye-catching statement piece – unique and immediately a visual highlight.
An artwork for connoisseurs and collectors that combines aesthetic impact with documented provenance.
